About Alan Muir

  • Plays 6 String - 12 String & Bass Guitar
  • Sings Lead and Harmony

  • Al was born in Red Deer and raised on the family farm in the Delburne area. He is the youngest of four children (one brother and two sisters). Al’s dad was a well-known singer and musician, but in addition to music, he also encouraged the family to participate in competitive sports such as baseball, hockey, football and basketball! After attended high school in Delburne, Al worked as a communications technician for AGT (Alberta Gov’t Telephones) for almost 20 years. He met his wife to be (Lil) while stationed in Hanna. The family eventually moved back to Red Deer in 1986 where they’ve owned, developed and operated numerous businesses. Lil & Al celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Oct. 2020! They have 2 sons and 5 grandchildren, all living in Red Deer. Music and sports have been an important part of the family tradition. However, as the boys grew older music took a back seat. Al was kept busy with coaching, travelling to sporting events and participating himself. Then, as time went by, the empty nest syndrome became a harsh reality, but fortunately the void was quickly filled again with music! Now, for the past 22 years, he has been playing and singing with numerous groups, both gospel and 50 / 60’s country and rock. Al & Lil are currently the music directors at the “Penhold Community Church.” They are the originators of “Parkland Gospel Music ShowCase,” and the “Bring Back The Music” ministry that in recent years has become very popular throughout Central Alberta. He considers it a privilege and honor to join his good friends at Visions Country Gospel and looks forward to serving our Lord in whatever capacity the future may bring! Welcome Al.
